Cost & Finances

How much does the program cost?

Kingdom Life Recovery charges $100 per week - making us the most affordable transitional housing program in the Richmond area. We've done the research, and we keep our rates lower than comparable programs because we believe cost should never be what keeps a man from getting help.

If cost is a barrier, call us. We may be able to work with you or connect you with assistance resources.

What does the weekly fee cover?

Your weekly program fee covers housing, utilities, and participation in all program activities - including Bible study, life skills groups, accountability sessions, and access to employment support resources. We don't nickel-and-dime. What you pay is what you pay.

What if I can't afford it right away?

We understand that men releasing from incarceration often have nothing to start with. Call us and let's have an honest conversation. We may be able to defer a portion of your first week's fee, connect you with financial assistance, or help you apply for rapid rehousing funds through our partner network.

We've never turned away a man who was genuinely committed to the program just because of money. But we need to talk.

The Program

How long is the program?

The average stay at Kingdom Life Recovery is 6 months. Length is flexible based on individual progress and circumstances. Men who are actively engaging with the program and making real progress may stay longer if needed. We don't push men out before they're ready.

Is this a religious program? Do I have to be a Christian?

Kingdom Life Recovery is explicitly Christian in its foundation. Bible study, prayer, and faith community are central to daily life here. That said, you do not have to be a Christian to enter the program.

What we ask is that you're genuinely open to participating in the faith-based structure. Many men who arrive with no faith background - or even hostility toward it - find something meaningful here. We've seen it happen too many times to require a faith commitment upfront.

What we do require is a genuine willingness to change and to engage with the program as it's designed.

What does a typical day look like?

Days at KLM Recovery are structured. Men are expected to be up by 6:30 AM, participate in morning devotions, eat breakfast together, and then spend the day either working or actively job searching. Evenings include dinner together as a house, Bible study or group session, and personal time before a 10 PM curfew.

This isn't a vacation. It's a program designed to build the habits and discipline that make long-term success possible. See our Our Program page for a full daily schedule.

What are the house rules?

House rules exist to protect every man in the program. Key expectations include:

  • Zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs, or weapons on premises
  • 10 PM curfew (with exceptions for verified work schedules)
  • Active participation in program activities
  • Respectful treatment of all residents and staff
  • Honesty with program staff
  • Regular payment of program fees
  • No overnight guests without permission

Full house rules are provided at intake. They're not complicated - they're what it takes to live in a safe, healthy community.

For Referral Partners

How do I make a referral?

The easiest way is to fill out the Referral Form on our Referral Partners page. You can also call us directly at 804-928-4300.

We respond to all referrals within 24–48 hours. For urgent placements, call directly.

Do you coordinate with parole officers?

Yes. We work regularly with parole and probation officers and are experienced with the documentation requirements for supervision compliance. We're willing to provide address verification, program participation documentation, and communication about a resident's status as appropriate and within privacy guidelines.

If you're a PO looking to place a client, call us directly to discuss the specifics.

What is your success rate?

Kingdom Life Recovery program completers have a recidivism rate of less than 30% - meaning fewer than 30% return to incarceration after completing the program. The national average for formerly incarcerated individuals is significantly higher. Our outcomes reflect 22 years of structured, accountable programming.

We'll be happy to share more data with partner organizations upon request. Call us or visit our About page to learn more about our track record.

Do you accept men on GPS monitoring or ankle monitors?

Generally yes, as long as the monitoring conditions are compatible with our program structure. Call us to discuss the specifics - supervision requirements vary and we want to make sure we can meet them before a man moves in.

Intake & Getting Started

What should a man bring on move-in day?
  • Government-issued photo ID (or we can help you get one)
  • Social Security card or number
  • A few changes of clothing
  • Personal hygiene items / toiletries
  • Any prescribed medications in original labeled packaging
  • Court documents, release papers, or supervision paperwork
  • Emergency contact information
  • First week's program fee (or prior arrangement)

Don't let not having these things stop you from calling. We've helped men who had nothing but the clothes on their back. Start the conversation.

How do I apply?

The first step is a phone call or the intake form on our Contact page. We'll have a conversation about your situation, answer your questions, and if it seems like a good fit, walk you through the next steps.

There's no formal written application. We believe in talking to people, not processing paperwork. Call us at 804-928-4300.

Still Have Questions?

We'd rather talk than have you guess. Give us a call - no pressure, no runaround.
